Stackpole

Mary Creighton Stackpole was born in 1897 in Harrisburg. She served with the Harrisburg Chapter of the American Red Cross for over fifty years, raising funds for troops and introducing Red Cross programs to local schools. Stackpole was also politically active, serving as a member of the State Welfare Commission in the 1940's, a presidential elector for Pennsylvania during the 1952 election, and State Committeewoman in the 1960's.

Stackpole also belonged to several organizations dedicated to improving life in Harrisburg such as the Civic Club, the Harrisburg Junior League, the Tri-County United Council, and the Children's Non-Profit Center. Mary Stackpole died on July 22, 1977.
