Mira Lloyd
Dock

Mira Lloyd Dock was born on December 25, 1853, in Harrisburg. She was the primary engineer of the City Beautiful Movement which aimed to improve the sanitation and green spaces in Harrisburg, which would play a major role in bringing about sanitation reforms.

Dock is particularly remembered for her speech before the Harrisburg Board of Trade on December 20, 1900. Titled "The City Beautiful", it called for major improvements such as paved streets and sewage systems. Dock continued to raise funds and pressure legislators to implement beautification policies throughout her life before passing in 1945.
